Description

Nuri sardines in tomato are a Portuguese store cupboard staple. Nuri hand picks the sardines to make sure only the best make it to the tin. The sardines are then canned with olive oil, salt and tomato pulp. Enjoy these tomato-rich sardines straight from the tin, toss through spaghetti or grill and serve with lemon zest.

Nuri is one of the oldest – and most iconic – brands of Portuguese tinned fish. The name Nuri comes from the Arabic word for ‘my light’, and this is what a customer exclaimed when they first saw the shiny sardines in the tin. The artisanal production process is steeped in tradition, with 37 steps required to produce a single Nuri tin.
