Sea Sisters x Poon’s Limited Edition Welsh Cockles in Chilli Oil, 115g

Savour the fiery flavour of Welsh cockles in chilli oil. This British conservas is a collaboration between Sea Sisters and Poon’s London. Founded in 2021, Poon’s makes award-winning Chinese sauces and wind-dried meats. 

The cockles are hand gathered by fisherman in Penclawdd, Wales. Inside the heart-shaped shells are morsels of firm, sweet-salty flesh.

For this limited edition conservas, the cockles are preserved in Poon’s chilli oil. Spicy and aromatic, it’s a bold pairing for the delicate shellfish. The oil is flavoured with crushed chillies, garlic and ginger. Salted black beans add a punch of umami.

Eat the cockles straight from the tin with bread to mop up the oil. You can also add them to salads and seafood soups.

For a quick lunch, add the cockles to fried rice with peas and diced bell peppers. Or, toss them stir fried noodles. Finish your dish with a drizzle of spicy oil from the can.

Store in a cool, dry place. Once open, refrigerate and consume within two days.
